Hotel 5-star sup. „InterContinental Düsseldorf“/ D

The lobby and the restaurant are separated visually by a red-orange lightweight glass curtain, which accentuates the perceived independence between the two rooms while at the same time, the transparency arouses interest. These elegant “curtains” were designed in allusion to the chandeliers from historic Venetian palaces. Also with a reference to historic Venetian art, 50 glass strings and 600 oyster-shaped glass elements were glass-blown; being possible thanks to Behncke’s long lasting business contacts. These works, including baluster-shaped table legs, from the famous Venetian Amphora glassblowing give the InterContinental Düsseldorf hotel identity by combining modernity with references to the European high culture.
